Overview
An AI-powered personal food library that helps users discover new dishes and expand their palettes safely through easy identification and classification of unfamiliar ingredients. Users photograph text-based restaurant menus, which generates ingredient galleries reflecting food preferences.

Problem
Lengthy text-based menus don’t provide enough information for well-informed ordering, especially for people with dietary restrictions.
Hypothesis
If restaurant customers with food restrictions have a tool that helps them identify multiple ingredients simultaneously, they can be better informed.
Research
Interviews with 9 participants, empathy maps, and provisional personas representing adventurous eaters and cautious explorers.
Solution
An ingredient-identifying app enabling users to learn about all ingredients at once and build personal food libraries for safer exploration — through wireframing, lo-fi prototyping, two rounds of usability testing, and hi-fi mockups.
